The book is on hold…
My, turns 16 tomorrow, Nephew showed up at my door at 10:00 pm last night with bag in hand. Police were over at his house, again.
A very long story short, he is need of a more stable environment and I am the only one able to provide it for him.
Breaks my [...]

Writing A Book Is Work
Posted in Books, Random Meanderings on August 26, 2009 | 8 Comments »
Determined, I set up shop on the dining room table yesterday morning.
First, I set up my laptop with an external keyboard…because I can’t type for shit on a laptop keyboard. My 70 words a minute screeches to a 15 words per minute halt on those things. Not at all conducive to free flow writing.
Then I [...]
Author, Author

It’s amazing how easy it is to forget that I’m writing working on ignoring a book.
Of course a lot has happened since I started it almost 7 years ago. I’ve had the oldest bird leave the nest, only to come back and leave again several times. We started homeschooling and even though it’s without doubt [...]
Math Is Cool and Weird

Until I did the actual calculations, I thought that this would only happen once in their lifetime…
Daughter’s birthday cake this year…look closely…
And now:
Hubby’s birthday cake this year.
Did you notice that I was able to reuse the number candles? Neat eh?
The thing is, at first I thought that this was a freak thing, but after some [...]
Heat Wave

It’s currently 32 degrees C with humidity that makes it feel like 41 degrees (that’s 105.8 F)!
Yesterday was pretty much the same and tomorrow it’s predicted to feel a few degrees warmer. Thankfully though they are forecasting more seasonal temperatures by the end of the week.
Still, right now it’s obnoxiously hot.
Without air conditioning, the saving [...]

My tender ego needing your approval so badly
My less than stellar ability to communicate effectively
Has me walking on egg shells and trying not to break down in tears
Oh how I loathe all these insecurities and never ending fears
I’m a great mother and a good wife
I really have done well with my life
Makes perfect sense to [...]
Holy Crap, Honest Scrap

My good blog friend Colleen @ The NewUnschooler honoured me with the following…
It’s an “Honest Scrap Award,” given to bloggers who:
1) write soul-bearingly, thus exposing themselves to possible ridicule
2) have blogs that are “brilliant” in either content or design
I’m sincerely honoured that Colleen thinks so highly of my writing because I think she’s one of [...]
It Feels Too Much Like Owing

I try again to negotiate my way through
Letting my heart dictate my gentle words
And to my dismay it turns out the same way
Just like every other time we’ve performed this play
I just want you to hear me out before you get offended
I just want you to know that I can’t stand pretended
It feels too much [...]
Drum Roll Please…

Regarding what courses I chose to take this fall…
Lisa @ What the Heck Was She Thinking was closest with her guesses of Healing Harp and Chivalrous Swordhandling.
Though it took her four guesses I’m overlooking it because I’m just grateful that people played along and well, she didn’t really win anything anyway.
So, didn’t take [...]
I’m On A Roll

It seems that my new “looking out for me and mine first” attitude has disappointed yet another person in my life.
Yesterday I got a very snarky and guilt ridden e-mail from my step-mother about my RSVPing a decline to her invitation to my father’s 60th birthday party.
I know, even as I typed it I realized [...]
