Too long, regret and sorrow
Have dictated my tomorrow
Too long, only in darkness
Did I ever feel truly alive
And at last some light
To remind me that I am as much a Son
As I am a Daughter, a woman, a female
Not unaccustomed to indifference
Not unused to being outright ignored
And at last some light
To finally see that mine is [...]

Another Stolen Meme
Posted in Random Meanderings on March 30, 2009 | 3 Comments »
I’ve stolen the following themeless meme from MaryP @ It’s Not All Mary Poppins. I enjoyed her answers and thought I’d give it a go.
1. What is your occupation right now?
SAHM
2. What is on your feet right now?
White socks
3. What are you listening to right now?
The sounds from Daughter’s WoW game…the death wails of creepy [...]
Earth Hour
Posted in Random Meanderings on March 28, 2009 | 3 Comments »
At 8:30 this evening we’ll be shutting down the power to the house for 60 minutes in support of “Earth Hour”.
You can officially register and be counted amongst the millions who are participating or you can, like us, just turn off the power for 60 minutes to show your support.
I’m not sure yet exactly what [...]
Demystifying Multiplication

I have to give out two Hat Tips for today’s post to some rockin’ women who, like me, spent most of their lives thinking that they sucked at Math and that they would never “get” it.
First to Child’s Play for her Math Mondays posts where she documents her family’s homeschooling journey into the world of [...]
But I digress…

I’m moved to tears
I hate that I count the years
It should mean nothing
But it feels like everything
I just want to say “Hi, how are you?”
I just want to scream, “How the hell could you?”
But I digress…
I might never get the chance
On the other hand I could just create it
I just want to pretend I don’t [...]
So Joins the Reprieve

I never thought that trying not to write a poem would hurt so much.
You can’t believe how much resistence it’s taking to not rhyme these words.
I am thinking of calling my mother, to meet and talk.
It’s been 11 and half years since I’ve seen her.
The nightmare that was the cause and led to the in [...]
My March Break

I mentioned last week that Hubby took this week off…and no, this isn’t about us going over our financial papers and deciding whether or not to sell the house…that’s tomorrow.
It’s about today and how Hubby took Daughter to Montreal for a day trip. (I’ll post some pics of their tour tomorrow…I actually haven’t even seen [...]
Belated Awards

Last week, Shady Lady @ Behind Big Shades honoured me with
the Smoking Typewriter Award. Neat eh?
Apparently for this all I have to do is link back to the one who gave me the award (done) and then Google my name and post what I find.
Like Shady Lady, Zayna is not my real name but I [...]
Oh Happy, Warm, Fresh, Sunshiny Day

A bit much? In words they may appear to be, but to my heart they are insufficient.
It’s 8 C AND Sunny today! I never thought something as simple as a nice day could lift my spirits so much. The windows have been relieved of their plastic shrouds and opened to let the first real swallow [...]
Risky Business

Some of you may remember that back in August, Hubby and I decided to take a “grown up time out” and sell the house this Spring.
I haven’t followed up on that because we’ve gone back and forth on it so many times in the last six months that I’m just not sure where we’ve stood [...]
