Never Be Normal

I’ve finally conceded to the overwhelming evidence
I’ve finally taken account of the polls
I will never be normal by any stretch of the word
I will never be able to be categorized by this world
And you know what?!
I’m ever grateful for that
It would be so easy for me to hateful
It would be so easily justified
That I’m not [...]

For My Own Sake

This time it’s for my own sake
It’s my own happiness that’s at stake
I’ve proved I can nurse most wounds back to health
But I can not dodge bullets, despite my stealth
The things he did to you, me and her
Untold wrath should have incurred
By those who claimed to love us
By those who claimed they cared
But nothing ever [...]

Tucking my 13 year old Daughter in one night, the following conversation ensued:
Daughter: Mom, why is one bigger than the other?
Me: What dear?
Daughter: You know, (whispers) my boobs, why is one bigger than the other…is that normal?

For years I’ve been plagued by these recurring dreams that I’m still in high school.
Not 15 and in high school, thank God, but in my mid-thirties I’m walking the sterile corridors and entering the dank  rooms of my institutionalized educational experience.

I’ve put on a movie for my nephew (6) and am stealing a few minutes to just sit here.  In four hours, we’ve baked 2 dozen cupcakes, made a batch of cookies, did valentine’s crafts (with paint and everything) and had lunch.  In between running around, laughing and gently scolding.
Auntie is ready for a nap [...]

Valentine’s Tea Party

This weekend Daughter and I are having a Valentine’s Tea Party.   It’s really just an excuse to hang out with our best friends, have some tea and sweets and do some crafts.
The great thing about doing this kind of activity with older kids is that I only have to do half the work.  The [...]

Why Am I Asking

When all is said and done
I’m still alive, so I must have won
Right?
When it comes to adding it all up
I’m surely at least out of the red
Right?
When I consider all the options
I always made the best choice I could
Right?
Why am I asking, why don’t I yet know
Why am I pleading for validation
Why am I still [...]

Simple Pleasures

Daughter and I went for a walk today!
An honest to goodness, enjoy the warm (as in no mitts or hats required) air, wave to the neighbours and pet friendly dogs walk down the street.  Even with the sun only occasionally peeking out, it is still the nicest day we’ve had in months.
It was so refreshing, [...]

It looks like winter has decided to ease up on us a little just in time for the buses to get back on the road.  Well, most of them anyway.  People are saying that it’ll likely be another few weeks before ALL the buses are running at full schedule.
Nonetheless, public transportation is back and that’s [...]

Colleen @ The New Unschooler tagged me.  It’s an easy and fun one so I thought I’d play.
The rules from Colleen’s site.
1. Go to the 4th picture folder on your computer.
2. Post the 4th picture in that folder.
3. Explain the picture.
4. Tag 4 more bloggers.
So, here we go.
My 4th folder was August08 and this is [...]
