We filed our income tax return late, as usual. They only time the Gov’t gives a hoot is when we owe them money. If they owe us money, it seems we can take all the time in the world. How come we don’t get to charge interest?
Anyway, as a result, we just got our refund.
So, are we off for a week in Hawaii?
Are we buying an HD widescreen tv?
Getting Mom a new laptop, maybe?
Nope, no such luck. With renovations still under way and our only credit card maxed, we have other priorities.
And, as it happens, our 43 year old Electrolux canister vacuum, inherited from Hubby’s mom, recently gave up the ghost…for good. Up until now, we’ve managed to keep it alive with a few costly visits to the repair man and lots of duct tape.
The fact that we managed to have it last this long speaks volumes about quality manufacturing of course but in the end, it was still very heavy and awkward to use even when it was working. So, I have longed for a new one for some time.
Now, we really NEED a new one and can (sort of) afford it, so today I got this!
I so can’t wait to use it.
How sad and boring is my life that a brand new vacuum gives me the giggles? Don’t answer that, I already know. Still, isn’t it gorgeous?
And look, it comes apart! How cool is that?
AND no bags! (Though deep down I have reservations about how much fun cleaning a filter will be compared to just throwing out a bag.)
In any case, “Look out dust! Here I come!”

This makes me laugh. My mom always buys Electrolux. In fact (since I’m old) I remember the Electrolux man coming to our house. One time they had some sort of little gift that was a bank shaped like a canister vacuum. Well, my brilliant 4 year old mind thought it would be fun to stick coins in the little coin-shaped vents on the vacuum. Hello again Mr. Electrolux Man!
Enjoy your new vacuum!
Not June – Hehehe, that’s cute – nothing tops the imaginative logic of a four year old.
And I am enjoying it very much…thanks.
