NEXT DAY: Well we had a great time and despite being exhausted after 8 solid hours with 3 pubescent girls (and their dog) I can’t say that I remember ever having that much fun without being camping.
The girls spent most of the late afternoon and early evening playing outside in what’s left of Hubby’s igloo. In truth, when you consider the huge trench, the walls of snow that you can climb up and walk on and the igloo itself, it’s really quite a cool place to play.

A couple of lawn chairs as thrones, a giant bubble wand as a lance, two (empty) water guns as James Bond’s arsenal, a broom as…well, a broom and a dog as a sentinel. What more could three kids want? Nothing apparently, not even with chocolate chip cookies, strawberries and cocoa could I tempt them.
At around 6:00 pm they came in for dinner and not long after their Mom arrived. The kids inhaled some spagetti and went right back outside to resume their adventure. Mom and I chatted while we got candles, flashlights and firewood ready.
By 7:45 pm we insisted the girls come in and get ready for Earth Hour. We were going to play a board game but by that time I was pretty tired and really wanted to enjoy the fire. I suggested we sit in the den and play a word game and to my relief everyone accepted the compromise.
So after Hubby turned off the power and the candles and fire were lit, we played text twist. Everyone got a piece of paper and a pen and after agreeing on a suggested 6 letter word we all wrote down how many smaller words we could find within it. Great fun.
“Party poopers” was heard to be uttered by a few of us…okay really just me, but the others agreed. However, not to lose hope, spirit or what energy they had left, the girls decided to take the flashlights out to the fort and play in the dark.
They finally packed up and headed home around 10:00 pm and I’m sure I was asleep before I even got into bed. In fact, I’m not totally convinced I’m really awake yet…I’ll need more coffee before I can be sure.

We did the whole bit too, but only 2 of the neighbours did.
We had candles everywhere and snuggled in front of the fire.
Great fun, and will institute our own Earth Hour on our own.
